We were replacing a lower ball joint (left-hand side) with a friend, but neglected to remove the axle nut first. We did succeed but in the process, pulling the disc to get a better grip/access meant the entire shaft came out too far and gearbox oil started leaking. It looked like 1L of oil before we realized and pushed the shaft back in to stop further leaking.
So my question now is how do you do an oil change in these boxes? I assume they are filled for life so maybe the fill holes are somewhere not very accessible? Can't find instructions or pics/videos anywhere for these specific gearboxes, not even sure what code it is. The car is a 2013 C3 1.4 e-HDi 70 Automatic (5 speed).
Any help is appreciated.

Reply with the VIN, or post again and then PM me your VIN and I will look to see what gearbox you have. Then we can see how to fill the missing ATF

Hi Arfur and thanks for the quick reply, I am trying to PM you but I can't find the link. Guess that's because I'm a new member? Let me try that again or else I 'll post here.

HI konor, this is what comes back for the VIN
Which means that it is not an automatic gearbox, but rather a manual gearbox with 'robot' control to replace the clutch pedal and the manual gear selector cables. It still has a classic clutch plate, pressure plate and all that you would find in a classic manual gearbox but with a solenoid driven 'clutch actuator' unit.
So you need to treat this as a standard MA5 gearbox when it comes to oil and filling etc. So that's a good thing as the MA5 is a common gearbox
GEARBOX (CHARACTERISTICS): BVM MA5 / O
TRANSMISSION: STT 5-SPEED PILOTED MANUAL GEARBOX
CLUTCH: HYDRAULIC CLUTCH
GEARBOX TYPE : GEARBOX MA PILOTE

The oil used in MA5 is Total Transmission Gear 8 75W80
The quantity of oil from a fully drained box is listed as 2L
On the early MA5 gearboxes the filling point is marked with 29 in the diagram (this is also the level point - fill to this point)
On later models, there is no filling plug (only a drain plug) and this is probably what you have and it will look like this:
So the solution is to fully drain the gearbox (plug marked 30) and add the full 2 litres through the top air vent. To access the air vent you will need to remove some air pipes (at least) from the engine bay to see the plastic ait vent that can be removed for refilling.

Thanks Arfur that is very helpful.
So if I understood correct, my box will have only the drain plug (no.30 in the drawing and to the right of the photo). The left arrow confused me for a while as the photo followed the quote "it will look like this". If it is a later model indeed I should not expect any plug "on the left" (no.29) but only one close to the drive shaft, have I got this right?
Regarding the air vent filling, any photos or schematics of how that should look like/where it should be located before I start randomly removing plastic piping in the engine bay?
Cheers
