Diagbox version 9.68 is for cars up to 2020
Diagbox version 8.55 will work on car made before 2017
Diagbox version 7.83 for cars up to 2016
As newer models are developed, diagbox is updated to keep up with the technology in the later cars.
Check for download version of Diagox and compatible versions of Lexia hardware.

While still looking around for the optimum version of Lexia etc to buy for our 2009 car I have been advised privately that up to a point, i.e, V7.57, the software will actually run on XP Home, and only later V7.xx has the requirement for XP Pro.
Unfortunately this versions vs. car list only goes back as far as V7.83 / 2016 at the moment. Is it possible to regress it even further back? I have seen references to versions as old as V5.xx but have no idea how far back they go in terms of car model years.

If you are asking "do you need a particular version of Diagbox for your 2009 car"? Not really, if you run the latest.
It's a bit like windows. Old machines will run on newer versions but newer machines wont run on the older versions (I mean all the bells and whistles of the new machine won't work). Actually that's a bit of an over simplification, sorry. The updates that allow LEXIA to run on newer cars are only on newer revisions. But older cars are still covered.
More clever people than me will come along and inform you. But I have found that the pirated software that comes with the LEXIA is a bit dodgy and you may find only some versions of the software will run on your computer anyway. Either way, run the latest version that will run on your computer.
I am running 7.06 (I think) and it struggles with "all CAN" vehicles. Runs fine on CAN-VAN (pre-facelift) vehicles up to 2004. So I recommend running a much later version than 7.06.
