Hi,
I am just geting to grips with my 2014 C3, 1.0 petrol which I have acquired and run as a 2nd car/shopper to my BMW and I am looking to buy some sort of diagnostic equipment for the time when things start playing up as they no doubt will. However I am somewhat confused what to buy.
Can someone tell me what I need to purchase please. I want to be able to sort codes/delete not just for engine issues but all systems. ABS/Airbags etc.
The info I have gleaned so far is that Lexia is for the older stuff and not applicable for my car and that Diagbox has taken over now but even this may not be for much longer...Is this correct?
Also this stuff only seems to run on Windows 7 or older stuff and I am on now running Windows 10 on my laptop and PC ?
Would I be better off buying some sperate stand alone diagnostic equipment that would do all makes...i.e To enable me to sort other make vehicles as well that I may buy in the future?....Foxwell NT644 Pro or similar?
All Thoughts /Opinions much appreciated.....

For the C3 you need lexia/diagbox - it is hardware and software. You will also need a laptop running windows 7 - 32bit. This is the easiest way to get it working.shoestring wrote: ↑Fri Mar 30, 2018 4:55 pm Can someone tell me what I need to purchase please. There is a topic here, that is worth reading (further down the page), that has info about installing lexia/diagbox on a windows 7 64bit environment.
For the diagbox/lexia, this late version (7.83) full chip - here will work with late model C3s like your 2014 model.

Hmmm...
Its the Windows 7 bit that creates a bit of an issue for me. It will mean I have to buy an additional laptop to run Windows7 and Lexia. I have other non-car stuff that needs Windows 10 that I currently use.
I also see that Microsoft is going to cease supporting Windows 7 in January 2020 which is only just over 18months away.
Is Lexia/Diabox really the only way to go....?

There are lots of windows 7-32bit laptops on the scrap piles. An old, second hand laptop that has win7 will be fine. It doesn't need to be new, it just needs to work.shoestring wrote: ↑Fri Mar 30, 2018 6:49 pm Hmmm...

The fact that there will be no support from microsoft for windows 7 is of no consequence to diagbox.
You know that old versions of lexia are still running on XP and Microsoft stopped selling that years ago.
If you want to put it on 10, you will need a virtual machine install of 7 anyway......

If you have plenty of disk space on your laptop you could install W7 in addition to W10 on a separate partition.
When you start up you get the choice of which operating system you want to boot with, W10 would be the default if you don't make a selection.
It's a little bit of hassle to set up this way but ultimately more stable than running a separate operating system in a virtual machine and not all version of Windows support virtual machines. The laptop also runs quicker with a separate boot than when using a virtual machine.
My software for Lexia runs quite happily under WIndows XP on a machine with three drive partitions, XP, W7 pro and W10 home.

Thanks everyone for the thoughts and ideas.
Seems like ebay to search for an old Laptop and run 7 specifically for Lexia/Diagbox is the best way to go for me.

This guy is saying the Lexia/Diagbox clone he is selling works perfectly on Windows 10. Can anyone confirm this?

This is from the listing:-
I read this as Windows 10 32-bit is OK. If you have a 64-bit laptop then you have to run inside a Virtual Machine, W10 doesn't support this. VM Ware might work but it's not something I have tried or know about.Works on WINDOWS XP, VISTA, 7, 8, 10 SUPPORTED 32BIT We support these Operating Systems
64BIT using VM WARE or Virtual XP I include files for Windows 7 Virtual XP on the CD with how to install video

Ahh....Thanks, I missed that bit about needing VM Ware on 64bit due to not being very computer savvy.
