Answered my own question by tackling it earlier today. The details below might save someone else some time and aggro. Tried at first to remove only the mentioned piano black trim piece that surrounds the window switch, (I have proper trim removal tools) but only succeeded in dislocating the clips on...

Ebay sells lots of this type of cup, usually a lot cheaper than the car maker's 'official' accessory option, no matter what the brand.
